Nancy Ruth Valenzio

Born September 28, 1928, in Republic, a daughter of Stephen and Linda (Jarvela) Valenzio, Nancy was raised in Republic and attended the local school, returning to the classroom years later to complete requirements for her graduation in 1984 through the Community Enrichment Program. For many years, Nancy was employed with the H.W. Gossard Company until that facility closed in 1976. She then began working as a dietary aide at Bell Memorial Hospital, retiring in 1994. In retirement, Nancy assisted her daughter, Linda, by babysitting the grandchildren so that Linda could return to work. Babysitting was one of her most enjoyable leisure time activities, along with shopping and visiting with friends. Nancy was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church.

Nancy is survived by her daughter, Linda Jo (Greg) Quayle of Champion; her two grandchildren, Zachary (Jennifer) Quayle of Champion and Lindy (Jeffrey) Martin of Ishpeming; two great-grandchildren, Trygg Skip and Sawyer Kurt Quayle of Champion; a sister, Esther (Jack) Hodge of Ishpeming; her sister-in-law, Ethel Valenzio of Republic; numerous nieces and nephews.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Margaret Palomaki, Marilyn Tibbs, Jean Rautio, Ruth Paquette, and Joan Larson; and brothers, Kenneth Valenzio and Donald “Peanut” Valenzio.

Honoring Nancy’s request, no public services will be held.
