Michael Borchert

CRYSTAL FALLS, MI – Michael C. Borchert, 58, of Crystal Falls, passed away on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Aspirus Hospital in Iron River Michigan with his family by his side.

Mike was born on September 1, 1959 in Marquette, MI, son of the late Harold and Hazel (Wagar) Borchert. He was raised in Marquette, attended school there and received his certification as a wastewater treatment operator from Northern Michigan University. He spent the next twenty five years in that field working in Middletown, CT where he retired as a plant supervisor.

Growing up in the U.P Mike loved the outdoors, camping, viewing wildlife, four wheeling (ATV and Jeep-in) and riding his motorcycle. Many great memories of hanging out with his “Other Brother Daryl”. He loved listening to music, he influenced many of his younger family members musical tastes. Most importantly Mike loved spending time with his family. He always looked forward to sharing conversations of gun- smithing, outdoor skills, and life lessons learned with his nephews, great nephews, and the Haag boys. He spent some good hours sitting on the deck looking out at the lake and enjoying the peace of being back home in the U.P. Mike was a genuine, kind man, and a great friend.

Mike is survived by two sisters, Judi (Ron) Setter of Little Lake, MI and Sherrie (James) Martin of Harbor Springs, MI; a brother, Larry (My other brother Daryl) Dionne of Big Bay, MI; nieces and nephews, Gerri (Anthony) Haag of Crystal Falls, Terry (Rebecca) Lemire of Ishpeming, Jaemi Pantti of Menominee, MI, Ryan Setter of Little Lake, MI, Luke (Nikki) Ayres of Dupont, WA, Jason (Kelly) Beauchamp of Madison, WI and Kevin Beauchamp of Harbor Springs, MI; great nieces and nephews, Elliott and Matthew Lemire, Jaelyn and Jake Pantti, Finley Ayres, Chase (J.J.)
