Elaine Roose

PALMER, MI – Elaine M. Roose, 94, longtime Palmer resident, passed away peacefully early Saturday morning, March 10, 2018 at the Eastwood Nursing Center.

Elaine was born October 3, 1923 in Ishpeming to Andrew and Alma (Pyykola) Koski, graduated from Palmer High School, Class of 1941 and was a lifelong area resident. She was employed at the H.W. Gossard for several years, and was then a housekeeper at the Palmer Nursing Home. Mrs. Roose was a member of Community Lutheran Church, Palmer.

Elaine loved music, especially Willie Nelson and The Mavericks. She attended many concerts with her daughter; she saw Willie about 25 times and made many trips to the Grand Ole Opry. Elaine also enjoyed taking family trips, especially to the ocean where she could see palm trees and flamingos, shopping and dining out with family and friends, reading, and watching figure skating and NASCAR races on TV. Most of all, Elaine loved time spent with family for the holidays and family gatherings.

Surviving are her daughter, Carolyn (John) McDonald of Negaunee; two sons, Michael (Sandy) and Thomas ‘Casey’ (Gail) Roose, both of Palmer; grandchildren: Erica (Ryan) McCone, Patty Roose, Rachel (Chad) Mercure, Casey Roose, Kimberly (Tom) Wakeham, Tina and Greg McDonald; great-grandchildren: Kallee McCone, Brady and Tristan Roose, Hayden and Brea Mercure, and Quinn and Austin Wakeham; and two brothers, Roy and Harold Koski. She was preceded in death by her parents; her grandparents, Matt and Delia Pyykola; and her husband, Alfred ‘Abe’ Roose.

Honoring Elaine’s wishes, private family services will be held with Rev. Douglas Norquist officiating. Burial will be in the Negaunee Cemetery.
