LONG BEACH, CA – On December 23, 2017, Thomas Burton Sivula Jr., better known as “Tommy” lost his 4 1/2 year battle with cancer. He was a courageous fighter and was surrounded by people who loved him when he died. He will be missed by so many people.

Tommy entered the world on January 3, 1954 to Thomas and Irene Sivula. Tommy lived an active and successful life from the beginning to the end. In his younger days, while attending Ishpeming High School, he played on the football and wrestling teams. He graduated in 1972 and in the fall of 1973 he enlisted in the US Army. He was assigned to the tank division where he spent the majority of his time in Germany.

Following his years of service Tommy went on to finish college and earned an engineering degree from Michigan Tech in Houghton, Mi. He then became employed as a metallurgist working all over the United States from New York to California where he ended his career as a valued employee of Ametek in Durate, California.

When not busy working Tommy enjoyed trips to Catalina Island with his wife and the Cerritos Bahia Yacht Club. He was an avid fisherman and an accomplished photographer.

Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Irene Sivula.

He is survived by his lovely wife Kristin of Long Beach, his favorite and only sister Mary of Helena, Montana, his aunt Dorothy Sivula of Negaunee, Michigan and cousins in Texas, S. Carolina and Massachusetts.

A celebration of Tommy’s life will be held this spring.
