Beatrice L. Tamminen

BROOKLYN PARK, MN – Beatrice L. Tamminen, age 83, died peacefully on Dec. 19, 2017 at home in Brooklyn Park, MN surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Floodwood, MN in 1934, attended Suomi College in Hancock, MI and moved to St. Paul, MN in 1957. She was very active in the church community and was assistant to the Superintendent of St. Paul schools for many years. In 1979 she moved to Marquette, MI, where she was the office manager at Combined Health Services and then assistant to the Bishop of Northern Great Lakes Synod, ELCA. She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, sang in the Marquette Choral Society, and played an instrumental role in planning FinnFest 1996. Following retirement, she lived in Cornucopia, WI, returning to the Twin Cities in 2012.

Her beloved husband, J. Howard, preceded her in death in 2014.

She is survived by daughters, Diane (Paul) Amundson, Carolyn (Bob) Kluk, Janice, and Shirley (Steve) Kriegel; sons, Gary and Brian (Mary Ann); three sisters, one brother and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation 5-7 PM Wednesday, Dec 27 at Washburn-McReavy Glen Haven Chapel, 5125 W Broadway, Crystal, MN.
