ISHPEMING TWP, MI – Austen J. Larson, age 22, of Ishpeming Township passed away while at home on Sunday December 17, 2017.

Austen was born in Ishpeming on November 7, 1995 to Jeffrey Larson and Jennifer Mackey. He grew up in the Ishpeming area, graduating from Westwood High School class of 2014.

Austen was currently serving the country in the Army National Guard where he was a heavy equipment operator and was working as a field technician at United Rentals.

Austen enjoyed snowmobiling, four-wheeling, camping, driving his truck, hanging out with his friends, and being in the woods.

Austen is survived by his parents – Jeffrey (Brandi) Larson of Ishpeming, Jennifer (Andy) Johnson of Negaunee, paternal grandparents- Roland and Norma Larson, maternal grandparents – Jody Mackey and Alice Johnson, maternal great grandmother – Barbara Rovedo siblings- Bethany Firby, Kaitlyn Larson, Cristine Larson, Brooke Ranta, Bree Ranta, Brylea Ranta, Loren Johnson, Ayden Johnson, aunts and uncles – Steven (Rose) Larson, Ryan (Hannah) Mackey, Erin Gervasi, Dani Mackey, Jessica Mackey, Mari Johnson, Terri Howes, Todd (Heidi) Kauppanen, Jason (Holly) Lompre, Christie Olander, Tracy Olander, cousins – Dylan Mackey, Ashleigh Beauchamp, Jacob Larson, Caleb Larson, Cora Bleau, Toni (Luke) Tikkanen, Ty Kauppanen, along with numerous other aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers – Gerald Mackey and Larry Johnson.

Austen’s family will greet relatives and friends at the Bjork and Zhulkie Funeral Home on Friday December 22, 2017 from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM. The service will start at 6:00 PM with the Army National Guard Chaplain officiating. Military Honors will be accorded by the Army National Guard.

Pallbearers will be Tanner Giroux, Tyler Koski, Robert Honkala, Tyler Harvala, Matt Hegman, Trevor Swanson, Jesse Perry, and Dylan Mackey.

Interment will take place at the Ishpeming cemetery.
