Allen Felix Maki

ISHPEMING, MI – Allen Felix Maki, age 90 former Champion and Ishpeming resident passed away Monday, December 12, 2017 at the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans in Marquette where he has resided since 2014.

Allen was born March 27, 1927 in Republic to the late Felix and Imbie (Tuomi) Maki. He graduated from Republic High School. Allen enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served on the USS Yosemite. After serving during World War II and the Korean War Allen was honorably discharged in 1954.

Allen worked for 27 1/2 years for WLUC TV6, he retired in 1989 as an audio engineer. Allen was an accomplish musician, he played in Polka bands playing the accordion and was an organist at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Champion. He was most recently a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Ishpeming.

Allen is survived by 4 children: Gregory Maki of Champion, Deborah McCarthy of Omaha, NE, Cynthia Weider of Omaha, NE and David (Tammy) Maki of Hermitage, TN, a sister Arlene (Ronald) Huotari of Iron Mountain, a brother Gerald Maki of Brandenton, FL, 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Allen was preceded in death by his wife Geraldine Maki in 2016, a brother Marvin Maki and 2 sisters: Mable Maki and Melba Aho.

Allen’s family will greet relatives and friends from 12:00-1:00 pm on Thursday December 28, 2017 at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Ishpeming where a funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm with Rev. Warren Geier officiating.

A coffee social will follow the service in the church fellowship hall.

Military honors will be accorded by the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 380.

Interment will take place at Northland Chapel Gardens.
