Robert Earl Mills, II
EAST TAWAS, MI – Robert Earl Mills, II, age 78, of East Tawas, Michigan former resident of Newberry, Michigan died on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at Tendercare Nursing Home with his loving wife, Donna and fur baby Chloe at his side.
He was born the son of Robert and Velva (nee Couts) Mills, Sr. on June 19, 1939 in Highland Park, Michigan. Robert proudly served our country in the United States Navy as a meteorologist from 1958 – 1962.
On July 4, 1964 Robert married Andrea Jean Johnson and together they shared 41 years of marriage and raised two children.
He was the owner/operator of Old Homestead Heating and Refrigeration in Newberry from 1971 -1979. He began working for the Michigan Department of Corrections in Shingleton, Michigan in 1979 and retired in 1997. Robert loved spending time fishing and hunting at his beloved deer camp “Camp Nag-Na-More” in Seney, Michigan that he and his son built. He built model airplanes and loved traveling in his RV and enjoyed spending the winter months in Clermont and Lake City, Florida.
Robert married Donna Roach on March 8, 2007, and she survives him along with his children; Robert E. (Anne) Mills, III and his daughter Julie Mills, his brother James (Barb) Mills; his sister Nancy (Ray) Minchin; two grandchildren Robby and Ellie; and his dog Chloe.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife Andrea.
