Carol N. Tassone

GREEN BAY, WI/ ISHPEMING, MI – Carol N. Tassone, 89, of Green Bay, formerly of Ishpeming, Michigan, went home to be with her husband, Joe, daughter, Cheryl and son, Joe, on September 6, 2017.

She was born on July 18, 1928, to the late Belle and Jack Pascoe in Diorite, Michigan. Carol married Joe on May 29, 1948, in Ishpeming, Michigan, and was married for 60 years. Family was everything to Carol. Despite not having a lot of money, her children were never aware, because Carol was rich in her talents for providing for her family. She was creative, cooking delicious meals that would extend the budget. She baked and decorated her children’s and grandchildren’s birthday cakes, knitted hats, mittens, sweaters and Christmas stockings. Carol sewed clothes for her children and grandchildren, even making her daughters’ wedding dresses. Her decorating, gifts and meals made holidays special.

Carol entered and won many dress-your-doll competitions in both Green Bay and Ishpeming. Carol and her family spent many weekends at her parents’ camp on Casey Lake. All four of her children were members of the Blue Notes Drum and Bugle Corps, and both Carol and Joe, were active members of the Parents’ Club.

While living in Ishpeming, she enjoyed taking care of her dog, Packy (Packer), playing cards and Yahtzee with her friends, doing jigsaw and crossword puzzles and working and co-owning the Gossard Outlet Store. Carol and Joe moved to Green Bay to be close to their family in 1992. While in Green Bay, they extended their family through frequent meals at Red Lobster and Julie’s Cafe. They had their own booth, and their servers already knew their orders. There they met their close friends, Bob and Sherry Salesky, Dave and Kati LeMere and John and Janice Burkel. Carol was a huge sports fan, always watching Notre Dame football and the Green Bay Packers. She also followed all of her grandkids’ sports teams, as well as her neighbor, “T” Hiedeman. Her other hobbies included quilting, birdwatching, gardening and collecting Emmett Kelly clown figurines.

Carol is survived by daughter, Connie (Fred) Doran, son, Michael (Kathy) Tassone, grandchildren, Stacy (Nate) Crossett, Greg (Kacie) Hengler, Becca (Marc) Kinziger, Julianne (Marcel) Hengler, Michael (Heidi) Hengler, Jason Tassone, Kevin (Trisha) Hengler, Jeff (Raina) Tassone and Vanessa Doran, 19 great-grand- children and 1 great-great grandchild. She is also survived by her friend, TJ Hengler, brother-in-law, John Tassone, and sister-in-law, Betty Pascoe, and many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Joe, daughter, Cheryl, son, Joe, and brother, Jack.

Carol would like to thank her caregiver and best buddy, Karen Suemnich, neighbor, Ann Gevaert, handyman, Chris Demlow, and yard boy, Jacob Gussert. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Mary’s Hospital (nurse Kathy), New Perspectives and Unity Hospice (nurse Marie). Carol’s wish was to forego formal services and instead celebrate her life with a private get-together.
