Harry T. ‘Tom’ Marshall

NEGAUNEE, MI. – Harry “Tom” Marshall, 66, of 412 Croix St., Negaunee died on Thursday, October 17, 2013 at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee , WI, where he had been a patient for 3 weeks.

Tom was born May 11, 1947, in Negaunee to Harry T. and Mary (Milroy) Marshall, was a graduate of Negaunee High School, Class of 1965, and was a lifelong resident. He attended Michigan Technological University, and Northern Michigan University. He worked on the Great Lakes ore boats before enlisting in the U.S.Army. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War having served from from 1967-71. Following his service to his country he was employed by Cleveland Cliffs as a welder, retiring from the Empire Mine in 2004 with 35 years of service with the company.

Mr. Marshall was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Negaunee. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and son. His hobbies included: camping, fishing, hunting, golfing, bowling, and watching his son play hockey from the ages of 3-18. He loved spending time with family and friends at the Silver Lake Resort near Channing and going for Jeep rides with his friends, including his best friend Dakota (his chocolate lab).

Surviving are his loving wife of 28 years, Deborah A. (LaCosse), 2 sons: Tom (Callan) Marshall of Columbus, Montana, Brad Kellan of Lafayette, LA, a daughter, Jacqueline (Dan) Sellnow of Great Mills, MD, his mother Mary Marshall of Negaunee, 3 grandchildren: Amanda, Ashley, and Chase Sellnow, two brothers: Richard (Sue) Marshall of Negaunee, Jon (Jen) Marshall of Chassell, brothers-in-law ,Gale (Patty) LaCosse and Scott (Leslie) LaCosse both of Negaunee, his aunt, Eunice LaMere of Palmer, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and devoted friends, too many to name. He was preceded in death by his father, Harry Marshall in 1991, his father-in-law and mother-in-law Keith and Joan LaCosse, an infant sister, Mary Elizabeth Marshall and his uncle, John Milroy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 4:00 pm on Tuesday at St. Paul Catholic Church in Negaunee with Monsignor Peter Oberto officiating. Interment will be in the Negaunee Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends from 3:00 pm until the time of service at 4:00 pm at the church on Tuesday.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 4:00 pm on Tuesday at St. Paul Catholic Church in Negaunee.
