GLADSTONE — We, the Gladstone Michigan Soo Line Steam Engine #730 Authority, are dedicated to honoring the rich historical legacy of the Soo Line steam locomotive era within our community.

Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to you for choosing to support our mission. We are committed to being responsible stewards of your generosity and trust.

We wish to share an important update regarding our journey. After months of gratitude for the free usage of our current location, we were notified that starting October 1, 2024 we no longer could use this location.

As we face new challenges, the need to allocate resources for rent and associated expenses. the following thoughtful discussions the Authority has made the difficult decision to officially close operations at 921 Delta Avenue.

Yet, our mission continues as we actively search for an ideal location–one that is appropriately sized, affordable, and permanent.

In the meantime, we are focused on selecting the right storage environment, ensuring that your generous donations to our collections remain preserved. Each treasured item will retain its value, beauty, and emotional significance, safe in storage.

Before entrusting each valuable piece to storage, we have taken the time necessary to prepare them meticulously, using the proper methods and materials to ensure their originality remains intact, waiting to be cherished once again.

We carefully stacked and organized all donations on shelving that allowed for proper airflow, minimizing the risk of shifting or damage. Every item was secured with stringent measures, kept under lock and key with limited access controlled by our executive board members.

We will conduct regular inspections to promptly prevent and address any signs of damage, pests, or environmental concerns.
