The American Sailing Association has announced Brian VanWieren, owner of U.P. Sailing Company located in Marquette, as one of the recipients of the prestigious 2023 Outstanding Instructor Award. This accolade is reserved for the top 1% of all 2,500 ASA instructors worldwide, recognizing their dedication, skill and expertise in sailing instruction. VanWieren, alongside his wife, Kristen, established U.P. Sailing Company in 2023 on the shores of Lake Superior in Marquette. Despite being in their inaugural year of business, Brian’s passion for sailing and commitment to excellence propelled him to achieve this recognition.
