Addison Holland, a Senior at Watersmeet Township School, is the Onagomingkway Chapter, National Society of the American Revolution, Good Citizen winner. Sarah Smart of Marquette, Onagomingkway Good Citizen chair, presents Holland with a certificate, pin and cash prize. Holland was selected as her school’s DAR Good Citizen candidate due to her good grades and activity in school and in her community. After being selected, Holland chose to sit for the two-hour extemporaneous essay titled “What are the civic responsibilities of a good citizen and why are these duties, activities and behaviors important to the shaping of the America you hope to experience?” Her essay will now be sent downstate for judging against other Michigan entries. Holland is hoping to study either political or environmental science this fall and is looking at several universities.
