Area schools compete on high school bowl

Gwinn vs. Republic-Michigamme

The Gwinn “ModelTowners” played the Republic-Michigamme “Hawks” in a “Cerebral 16” round of High School Bowl and won by a score of 260-50. Thirty-eight schools from the Upper Peninsula and Northern Wisconsin field teams for WNMU-TV’s High School Bowl tournament, now celebrating 45 years on the air. Gwinn will advance to the second round when they play Gladstone, scheduled to air on March 30. Representing Gwinn are, seated from left, Landyn Spade, Tom Jenkins, team captain Donny Jourden and Charles Lininger. Standing is alternate Hana Rahmlow with coach Dan Turecky. Players for Republic-Michigamme, seated from right, are players Samantha Bistersky, Sabrina Tanaka, team captain Keilee Gransinger and Ellie Martin.
