MARQUETTE — The six Cub Scout Packs in the Pere Marquette Zone (Marquette and Alger Counties) held their annual Pinewood Derby runoff at St. Michael’s Catholic Church recently.

Winners for the fourth and fifth grade Webelos were 1st, Vyncintius Lentz of Pack 395 from Graveraet and Sandy Knoll Schools; 2nd, Preston Smith of Pack 346, Negaunee; 3rd, Caleb Schwiderson of Pack 395; and 4th, James Larson, Pack 395.

The third grade Bear winners were 1st, Alex Kenn, Pack 346; 2nd, Hannah Packard of Pack 333 in Gwinn; 3rd, Alice Derby of Pack 308 from Father Marquette Catholic Academy and Superior Hills School; and 4th place, Addison O’Brien from Pack 308.

The winners of the second grade Wolf competitors were 1st, Logan DeVries, Pack 332 in Munising; 2nd, Dominic O’Dovero of Pack 395; 3rd; Amelia Green, Pack 308; and 4th, Walter Larson of Pack 395. Logan Termors of Pack received an honorable mention award.

Lastly, the Lions and Tigers from kindergarten and first grades were led by 1st, Lee Edgette from Pack 332; 2nd, Sam Doppelt from Pack 308; 3rd Juliana O’Dovero of Pack 395; and 4th place, Micah O’Brien of Pack 308.

Zone Program Chairman Paul Salfai coordinated the event assisted by BoyScouts from Troop 302 and other volunteers.
