Dozens upon dozens of the toys were donated in the annual Teddy Bear Toss event, which is held by Northern Michigan University Athletics in partnership with the NMU Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and The Mining Journal Cheer Club. Students delivering the toys to The Mining Journal office were Calihan Bearden, soccer; Izzy Brusilow, soccer; Evynn Layshock, volleyball; Tyshon King, football; Tyavan Cox, football; and Aliyah Smukala, lacrosse.
