The UP North Knitting Guild held its first meeting on Sept. 15 and five of the members had entered knitted items in the Marquette County and/or UP State Fair this past summer. All arned ribbons at the Marquette County and/or UP State Fair this past summer: Mary Ann Theis entered 12 items in the Marquette County Fair and received nine first-place, two second-place and third third-place ribbons. Shirley Timberman entered both the Marquette County Fair and the UP State Fair with two items in each and received a second-place ribbon at the Marquette County Fair and a first-place and a second-place in the State Fair. Rosemary Michelin entered five knitted items in the Marquette County Fair and received four blue ribbons. Helen Lukey entered one item in the Marquette County Fair and received Best of Show, Monica Thoune entered the UP State Fair and earned two first-place, one second-place and two third-place ribbons.
