UPHH&H hosts summer hospice memorial service
MARQUETTE — On July 12, U.P. Home Health & Hospice hosted its annual Summer Hospice Memorial at the Carp River Gardens in Negaunee.
U.P. Home Health & Hospice hosts two Hospice Memorials annually as a part of its bereavement program, which lasts 13 months and aims to provide the best support and care for the family of Hospice patients who have passed.
“These memorials are about closure and support,” stated UPHH&H Executive Director/Administrator, Jennie Garrett-Bureau in a press release. “There is something beautiful in releasing a butterfly to remember your loved one, watching it fly away and into the beauty of a garden. It’s an honor to be a part of bringing peace to the families of our patients.” Attendees were welcome to tour the garden for relaxation and reflection.
During the ceremony Pastor Steve Solberg, UPHH&H Hospice Chaplain, provided remarks and prayers for those lost over the past year, and Dr. Michael Grossman, UPHH&H Hospice Medical Director, spoke as attendees released butterflies in memory of their loved ones. Rusty Bowers provided the music, UPHH&H staff members read the names of each person being remembered, and each attendee was provided ‘Forget-Me-Not’ seeds to plant at home. UPHH&H Director of Hospice Services, Elizabeth Wayne, closed the ceremony.
Since 1973, U.P. Home Health & Hospice has been a comprehensive provider for Home Health, Hospice, and Private Duty Services. The agency is considered an Essential Service Provider and is continuing to provide all necessary services.
