Future NMU student wins scholarship

MENDOTA HEIGHTS, Minn. — The Cemstone and TCC Materials companies, leaders in the ready-mixed concrete and construction materials industry, announce Maddi Bast is a 2022 Cemstone-TCC Materials Companies Scholarship recipient. Bast, of Osseo, Minnesota, will be attending Northern Michigan University and plans to major in sustainable business.

The Cemstone-TCC Materials Scholarship Fund was established in 1998 to assist employees and their qualified children to further their education beyond high school. Each year, scholarships are offered for undergraduate study in an accredited two- or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical college. To date, the companies have awarded 81 scholarships.

“Our family values this scholarship opportunity to support higher or continued education for our employees and their children. We are extremely proud of this year’s recipients and know they will be successful in their upcoming school years. As a family owned business, I am pleased to say we are committed to building the future together with our employees,” said H.T. Becken, chief executive officer, in a press release.

The Cemstone and TCC Materials companies have been led by the Becken family for five generations and are based in Minnesota. Cemstone, best known for its signature blue ready-mix trucks, operates ready-mixed concrete operations across Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa. In addition to concrete, Cemstone offers a complete line of construction materials including concrete.
