Area students earn honors, graduate from universities

MARQUETTE — A number of area residents have received honors or have graduated from college in recent months.

St. Norbert College held its commencement ceremony on May 15 outdoors on the college’s De Pere, Wisconsin, campus. Faith Toutant of Negaunee was one of 508 students in the 2022 graduating class, including 490 candidates for baccalaureate degrees and 18 candidates for master’s degrees. Toutant earned a bachelor of arts, graduating cum laude.

Also at St. Norbert, Abbie Tollefson of Negaunee was named to the 2022 spring semester dean’s list. A minimum 3.5 grade point average is required for academic eligibility.

Oregon State University graduated more than 7,300 students during ceremonies in June. Among them was Cori Eskau of Hancock who earned a bachelor of science, cum laude, in psychology.

University of Wisconsin Oshkosh officials have released the names of students who qualified for the dean’s list and honor roll. Hart Holmgren of Ishpeming earned dean’s list honors.

Clare Veverka of Marquette was named to the dean’s list for the Spring 2022 semester at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Conneticut.

Jennifer P. Richer of Marquette graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh’s College of Nursing with bachelor of science in nursing.

Amara L. Wallner, freshman from Negaunee in the Carlson School of Management, was named to the 2022 spring semester Dean’s List at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities.

The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point conferred degrees 1,100 graduates for the spring 2022 semester including two from Marquette: Benjamin Noble who earned a Bachelor of Science, Resource Management-Wildland Fire Science, and Anna Spehalski who earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Art – Graphic Design.

Officials from Concordia University Wisconsin in Mequon have released the Spring Honors List for the 2021-2022 academic year including Emily Ott of Marquette who is a senior in marketing. To be eligible for the honor, students must achieve a minimum 3.60 GPA.

About 7,700 students received degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison on May 13-14 including Ellie Hicks of Marquette.

Hicks graduated from the College of Letters and Science with a bachelor of science in computer sciences.
