Students earn honors
MARQUETTE — Several local residents have been named to academic honors lists at various colleges and universities.
University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire
EAU CLAIRE — Ty Kauppinen of Ishpeming was named to The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire’s fall 2021 Dean’s List. He is a student in the College of Education and Human Sciences at Eau Claire.
A press release from the university states about the dean’s list honorees: “Their academic performance has been outstanding, and the university recognize these students with pride.”

Quinnipiac University
HAMDEN, Connecticut — Clare Veverka of Marquette was named to the dean’s list for the Fall 2022 semester at Quinnipiac University:
To qualify for the dean’s list, students must earn a grade point average of at least 3.5 with no grade lower than C. Full-time students must complete at least 14 credits in a semester, with at least 12 credits that have been graded on a letter grade basis to be eligible. Part-time students must complete at least six credits during a semester.
Quinnipiac is a private, coeducational, nonsectarian institution located 90 minutes north of New York City and two hours from Boston.
University of Minnesota Duluth
DULUTH, Minnesota — William A. Luke of Negaunee was named to the University of Minnesota Duluth’s Dean’s List for Fall Semester 2021.
Students on the Dean’s List have achieved a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.
Luke is a freshman studying in Swenson College of Science and Engineering, pre undeclared engineering.
University of Wisconsin-Madison
MADISON, Wisconsin — Ellie Hicks of Marquette has been named to the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Dean’s List for the fall semester of the 2021-2022 academic year.
She is studying in the College of Letters and Science.
Students who achieve at a high level academically are recognized by the dean at the close of each semester. To be eligible for the Dean’s List, students must complete a minimum of 12 graded degree credits in that semester. Each university school or college sets its own GPA requirements for students to be eligible to receive the distinction.

Minnesota State College Southeast
Winona and Red Wing, Minnesota — Gabriel Clement of Marquette has been named to the Minnesota State College Southeast in Red Wing and Winona, Minnesota, President’s List for fall semester 2021.
To be eligible for the President’s List, students must complete a minimum of 12 credits at MSC Southeast during an academic term and achieve a GPA of 3.5 or above. Some 271 students were named to the Fall 2021 President’s List. Students on the list come from Minnesota and nearby Wisconsin and 26 different states – Alabama, Alaska, California, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Montana, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, Washington, and West Virginia — as well as one student from Hong Kong.
