Westwood students qualify for BPA states

ISHPEMING — Upper Peninsula business students recently converged on Bay College in Escanaba for the 2022 Business Professionals of America Regional Leadership Conference.

These high school students from across the Upper Peninsula gathered to compete in contests relating to finance, business administration, management/marketing/communications, information technology, and digital technology skills.

Twenty Westwood High School student members, along with teachers Ronalyn Arseneau and Sabina Villar, participated in this regional competition, and 19 Westwood students have qualified to compete at the state level of competition. Westwood’s state qualifiers and awards earned are:

JILLIAN KOSKI — 1st Legal Office Procedures;; 1st Advanced Office Systems and Procedures; 1st Administrative Support Concepts; and 5th Business Meetings Management

SOPHIA BALZARINI –1st Extemporaneous Speech

ZACHARY BECKMAN, TRISTEN HARSILA, DANIEL OSTOLA and NATALIE PROPHET — 1st Administrative Support Team

ADDISON DUNPHY and SIERRAH HALLUM –1st Economic Research Team

These students will represent Westwood High School at the 2022 BPA State Leadership Conference in March at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel in Grand Rapids, where they will compete with students from across Michigan, attend workshops designed to aid in professional development, and gain valuable skills. Top students at the state conference will advance to the National Leadership Conference to be held in Dallas, Texas, in May.
