Local students earn degrees, achieve honors
MARQUETTE — A number of college students from this area have achieved recognition from their institutions.
Graduates
More than 7,000 students representing all 36 of Oregon’s counties, all 50 states and 73 countries have earned degrees as part of Oregon State University’s class of 2021.
≤ Upper Peninsula students graduating this June from Oregon State include: from Pelkie: Adam Rulison, Bachelor of Science, Natural Resources, and from Sault Sainte Marie: Laura J. Gamble, Doctor of Philosophy, Statistics.
≤ Dakota S. Stankowski of Gwinn graduated from Northland College in northern Wisconsin. Stankowski graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Natural Resources-Fisheries & Wildlife Ecology.
≤ Jeff and Joyce King of Gladstone are pleased to announce the graduation of their son Jeff King from the Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow College of Health Professions at Central Michigan University. Jeff received his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree during CMU’s live doctoral commencement ceremony held at Kelly/Shorts Stadium on May 7. Jeff is the grandson of Gerald and Carol King of Marquette.
Honors
≤ Emily Curtice, a student from Gwinn, has been placed on Bemidji State’s dean’s list for the fall 2020 semester. To be eligible for the Dean’s List, Bemidji State University students must be enrolled for at least 12 credits and earn a minimum of a 3.5 GPA during the semester.
≤ The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire extends congratulations to the 2,816 students named to the spring 2021 Dean’s List. They include Ishpeming’s Ty Kauppinen, College of Education & Human Sciences.
≤ Minnesota State College Southeast in Red Wing and Winona, Minnesota, announced the President’s List for Spring Semester 2021. To be eligible for the President’s List, students must complete a minimum of 12 credits at MSC Southeast during an academic term and achieve a GPA of 3.5 or above. Included on the list was Gabriel Clement of Marquette.
≤ Sierra Bentti, Marquette Senior High School class of 2019, completed her second year of study in the Marine Science program at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in June; she made the Dean’s List for the second time.
≤ University of Wisconsin Oshkosh officials have announced students who qualified for the Dean’s List and Honor Roll in spring 2021 across its three campuses (Fond du Lac, Fox Cities and Oshkosh) including Hart Holmgren, a junior from Ishpeming.
