Williams named Outstanding Grad for Allied Health Division

ESCANABA –Each year, Bay College selects an Outstanding Graduate from each of the six divisions at the college. The graduate is selected by their instructors for their academic excellence, leadership and community service.

Hailey Williams was selected as the 2021 Outstanding Graduate for the Allied Health Division, with the award being sponsored by OSF HealthCare, the Bay College Faculty Association and the Bay College Foundation.

After graduating from Negaunee High School, Williams attended Northern Michigan University and earned a certificate in practical nursing. Williams worked as a licensed practical nurse for 21 years. She always dreamed of going back to school to become a registered nurse, and her dream became a reality when she enrolled at Bay College in the Fall of 2019.

Williams stated, “While attending Bay College, I worked full-time as a LPN in Marquette. It was a busy and stressful time in my life, but I knew it would pay off in the end. Everyone at Bay College was supportive and caring. The faculty and staff were always available to answer any questions. I was also awarded the Dr. Mary L Cretens Scholarship while enrolled at Bay, and it was so helpful. It allowed me to worry less about the cost of my education and focus more on learning and applying my skills.”

Williams received an associate in applied science degree in nursing from Bay College in November 2020. She is employed as a RN at Fresenius Kidney Care in Marquette. In the future, Williams plans to earn her bachelor’s degree in nursing.

In her free time, Hailey enjoys camping, hiking, playing games and reading. She is happiest when she is spending time with her family.
