Negaunee Elks choose Students of Month

NEGAUNEE –The Negaunee Elks have announced their Students of the Month.

Congratulations to Andrew Feys, a senior at Negaunee High School, for being named the Negaunee Elks February Student of the Month.

Andrew, the son of Caprice Feys and Tim Feys, is a cello section leader in the NHS Orchestra, team captain for the Quiz Bowl Team and a member of the National Honor Society. In his free time, Andrew enjoys camping, hiking, carpentry, gardening and is active with Junior Rifle, Faith Formation and the Boy Scouts. Andrew has had a very successful high school career, receiving several awards, including NHS Department Awards in Physical Science (2018), Spanish II (2018), Algebra II (2019), Biology (2019), Spanish III (2019), Pre-Calculus (2020), and Orchestra (2020); Excellence in Education Award in 2017, 2018, and 2019; Excellence in Education Scholar in 2021. Andrew’s other achievements include his team taking 2nd place at the MTU Bioathlon in 2019, achieving Expert Rank through the NRA sponsored Junior Rifle Program in 2019, receiving a 1 rating at Solo and Ensemble Festival in 2019 and making the Honor Roll every semester at NHS. After graduation, Andrew plans to attend Michigan Technological University to pursue a degree in mechanical engineering.

Congratulations to Paityn Brunette, the February Negaunee Elks Junior Student of the Month. Paityn is an eighth grader at Negaunee Middle School and is the daughter of Andrew and Christine Brunette. Paityn is a member of the Negaunee Middle School Student Council and is on the eighth grade girls’ basketball team.  In her spare time, Paityn enjoys playing softball. Paityn is a dedicated, hardworking student, which shows through her Honor Roll status. In the future, after graduation Paityn would like to pursue a career as some type of nurse.
