Sarah Smart, Good Citizen Contest chair for the Onagomingkway Chapter, NSDAR, presents Lucas Hughes with a pin, certificate and prize money for being chosen as this year’s chapter Good Citizen winner. Hughes, a Senior at Gladstone High School, was chosen due to his academic achievement and participation in school sports and other activities. He chose to sit for the two hour extemporaneous essay portion of the contest with ten other area students and was chosen the chapter winner by three non-DAR judges. His essay will now go on to State DAR judging. Hughes is also a volunteer firefighter and will pursue a career in this field in the Air Force. He is the son of Alicia and Brian Hughes.
