Negaunee Elks honor students of the month Standerford, Hendrickson

NEGAUNEE — Ella Standerford has been named the Negaunee Elks’ Student of the Month (middle school) for November. Ella, an eighth grader at Negaunee Middle School, is the daughter of Chris Standerford and Abby Cameron-Standerford. Ella is active in student council, and a member of the eighth grade girls’ basketball team. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, camping, hiking, paddleboarding, archery, basketball, photography, cooking/baking and doing puzzles. Ella has been on the honor roll every semester, took third place in the district spelling bee, won first place in a writing contest in fifth grade and was in the top 10 for the eighth grade Soapbox Speech Contest. Ella’s post school interests include teaching, genetics, and computer sciences.

Sierra Hendrickson, daughter of Laura Fredrickson and Bob Hendrickson, has been named the Negaunee Elks’ Student of the Month (high school) for November. Sierra is a senior at Negaunee High school who enjoys skiing, hiking, cooking/baking, and hanging out with her friends. Sierra has been the recipient of the Department Awards for English 9, physical science, computers level 1 and advanced biology and has also qualified for Excellence in Education every year while attending NHS. She has also received the Society of Women Engineers Certificate of Merit. Along with all of these accolades, Sierra is the team captain for varsity volleyball, the secretary for National Honor Society and participates in varsity basketball, varsity softball, yearbook and peer coaching. After high school, Sierra plans to attend college and major in biomedical engineering.
