Students from Superiorland area recognized for academic prowess

MARQUETTE — A number of area residents have been recognized by their institutions of higher learning for academic achievement:

≤ The University of Wisconsin-Madison has recognized students named to the Dean’s List for the spring semester of the 2019-2020 academic year. From this area, Ellie Hicks of Marquette earned the honor in the College of Letters and Science

Students who achieve at a high level academically are recognized by the dean at the close of each semester. To be eligible for the Dean’s List, students must complete a minimum of 12 graded degree credits in that semester. Each university school or college sets its own GPA requirements for students to be eligible to receive the distinction. Most call the honor “dean’s list”, but some grant the “Dean’s Honor List” and “Dean’s High Honor List.”

≤ The Spring Semester Dean’s List at Gustavus Adolphus College has been released. The list comprises students who have earned a 3.7 grade point average (based on a scale in which 4.0 = A) or higher for the semester ending in May 2020. Brendan Elliott of Marquette was named to the Dean’s List at Gustavus Adolphus College, a private liberal arts college in Saint Peter, Minn. that prepares 2,200 undergraduates for lives of leadership, service, and lifelong learning.

≤ The dean’s list for the spring 2020 semester at Spring Arbor University has been announced. Spring Arbor is a Christian liberal arts university located in Spring Arbor, Michigan. SAU offers more than 70 majors and programs to undergraduate and graduate students. Making the list from this area is Kate E. Zorn of Marquette, a senior.

≤ The University of Minnesota Duluth has announced its Dean’s List for Spring Semester 2020. Students on the Dean’s List have achieved a grade point average of 3.5 or higher. From this area, the student making the Dean’s List is Benjamin D Luke of Negaunee, a senior in the Labovitz School of Bus & Econ, Accounting.

≤ St. Cloud State University has announced the names of more than 1,700 students whose academic achievement placed them on the 2020 spring semester dean’s list. To be eligible for the honor, students must have a grade point average of 3.75 or higher on a 4.0 scale.

St. Cloud State University is Minnesota’s second-largest university, with more than 13,000 students from 90 different nations. From this area, Alex Wisuri of Ishpeming, who is studying in the College of Science and Engineering, Software Engineering, BSE, made the list.

≤ Four students from this area are included on Concordia University Wisconsin’s Spring Honors List for the 2019-2020 academic year. To be eligible for the honor, students must achieve a minimum 3.60 GPA and complete at least 12 undergraduate credits. The four are: Alicia Picord of Gwinn, sophomore, Rehab-Sci-Regular; Allison Griffin of Marquette, junior, Rehab-Sci-Regular; Elli Martysz of Marquette, senior, Accounting; and Emily Ott of Marquette, junior, marketing.
