Prior to our national crisis, the 34th Annual Florida Yooper Picnic was held on March 7. Picnic attendees enjoyed a beautiful, sunny afternoon at Kiwanis Island Park on Merritt Island near Melbourne, Florida. Snowbird Yoopers, permanent transplanted Yoopers and vacationing Yoopers came together to enjoy a delicious potluck lunch and wonderful Upper Peninsula comradery. Old friends took the opportunity to catch up and new friendships were forged. A special thank you to the Yooper Trap in Ishpeming for donating the cool Yooper swag door prizes for all. Mystery author James R. Nelson was also in attendance for a book signing featuring his Upper Peninsula-themed mystery novels.
