Local schools compete in High School Bowl

The Republic-Michigamme “Hawks” played the Marquette “Redmen” in the second round of High School Bowl and were defeated by a score of 280-110. Forty schools from the Upper Peninsula and Northern Wisconsin field teams for WNMU-TV’s High School Bowl tournament, now celebrating 42 years on the air. Representing Republic-Michigamme, seated from left, are players Samuel Dyer, Anna Laakso, team captain Judah Oakley and Shaylee Gransinger. Standing is alternate Taylor Lequis, coach Mary Koski, and alternate Heron Dyer. Players for Marquette are, seated from left, Travis Young, team captain Leandra Bruggink, Kevin Zhang and Ian Addison.
