On April 26, the 16th class of the Electrical Line Technician Program graduated. The ELT program is a joint effort between Northern Michigan University, the Lake Superior Community Partnership Foundation and the Midwest Skills Development Center. Thirty-two students received their certificates after completing the one-year training program, in which they prepared students to install, maintain, and operate electrical systems to supply electric energy to residential, commercial, and industrial customers. Harmon, Cooper T. Harris, Justin T. Heinonen, Ryan J. Johnson, Spencer L. Joles, Jed G. Larson, McKinley G. Larson, Ethan R. Locke, Riley W. Lynch, Brayden M. Marshall, Matthew J. Matwyuk, Ethan R. May, Patrick S. Morin, Jon C. Nowaczyk, Tyler M. Rhoades, Shawn R. Sexton , Michael A. Simons, Cody J. Totten, Kevin D. VanAcker, Lucas M. Veldboom, Reed T. Wiedenhoefer, Riley J. Wiitanen and Matt J. Ylitalo. Jerry LePage, an instructor of the ELT Program, was honored at the graduation for his dedication to the program. He will be retiring this year having been an instructor for the ELT program for 16 years. LePage instructed 489 students in his tenure.
