Junior Girl Scouts choose NICU for Bronze Award project

Junior Girl Scouts from FMCA Troop #5033 chose the NICU at UP Health System-Marquette for their recent Bronze Award project. The Bronze Award is the highest award that can be earned at the 4th and 5th grade GS level. They created over 60 laminated crib cards to be placed on baby isolettes to encourage families of sick babies and hand sewed over 20 tiny heart pillows to be placed in the isolettes as well. In addition, they held a donation drive collecting items to put together 25 complete care packages for the parents of the babies in the NICU, and using their cookie money, purchased a “Mama Roo” baby carrier to be specifically used for Neonatal abstinence syndrome babies.
