MTBA pledges $2,500 to underpass project

The Marquette Township Business Association held its monthly board meeting in April at Hudson’s Classic Grill. During this board meeting, the MTBA pledged $ 2,500 to help fund the upcoming underpass project. This underpass project is going to be immensely helpful to the community in terms of providing safe pedestrian crossings, according to an MTBA press release. The tunnel under the U.S. 41 corridor will be constructed just east of the Marquette Menards store in 2019. Connecting trails be will installed from the Iron Ore Heritage Trail to the tunnel; and from the tunnel other existing trail networks, in phases. The underpass will also provide safer access to the growing shopping and entertainment district, the release said. For more information on how to contribute to this project, visit the GoFundMe page set up by the Marquette Charter Township Board.
