Reading goal topped
Aspen Ridge Elementary School Principal Chris Marana is shown covered with pie filling after the school’s students met his challenge to read 100,000 minutes for the month of March. The students compiled a total of 121,860 minutes of reading, and for every 30 minutes read students were given a ticket that they entered into a drawing for two new bikes. The winners of the bikes were kindergartener Liam Barbier and fifth-grader Natalie Prophet. In addition, one student from each grade was chosen to smash a pie in Marana’s face.
