Pearson on MSU dean’s list
EAST LANSING – Taylor Pearson of Marquette was named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at Michigan State University in East Lansing.
The daughter of Wally and Carrie Pearson, she earned at least a 3.5 grade point average to be named to the list. She is in the College of Natural Science in the pre-medical program.
Jaecklein earns highest honors
GREEN BAY, Wis. – Mary Jaecklein of Marquette received highest honors at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay for the fall semester.
Students who earn a 4.0 grade point average, which represents all “A” grades, receive highest honors.
Meyer named
to dean’s list
HILLSDALE – Zachary Meyer, a senior pre-med major at Hillsdale College, was named to the 4.0 dean’s list for the fall semester.
Meyer is the son of Drs. Ronald and Sara Meyer of Champion and is a 2010 graduate of Ishpeming High School.
Hillsdale College is a private, four-year liberal arts college located in downstate Hillsdale.

Rossway earns
MASB award
MARQUETTE – Marquette school board President Rich Rossway has achieved the Award of Distinction as established by the Michigan Association of School Boards
To receive the award, Rossway had to complete a sequence of advanced professional development and leadership service classes, plus complete a series of educational credits as defined by the MASB.
He was re-elected in November to a fourth term on the board, initially being elected in 1999.

Shopko grant
ISHPEMING – The Shopko Foundation recently donated $1,500 to the Ishpeming School District.
The funds were generated by Shopko Hometown in Ishpeming during the holiday season as part of its Help Us Give Back initiative. The store collected signatures from customers and for every signature, the Shopko Foundation donated $1 to the district.
The Shopko Foundation supports accredited schools and 501(c)3 organizations with grants awarded throughout the year to support programs that further the foundation’s purpose of promoting the health and education.
The Shopko Foundation will donate more than $300,000 to school districts in the vicinity of its 178 stores

Folker named
to dean’s list
MARQUETTE – Forest Folker, son of Drs. Randy and Glenda Folker of Marquette, has been named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at Hope College in downstate Holland.
To be named to the dean’s list, a student must have a minimum 3.5 grade-point average on a 4.0 scale.
Hope College is a four-year, co-educational, liberal arts college with an enrollment of 3,433. It is affiliated with the Reformed Church in America.
