IM adjusts water bill policy

IRON MOUNTAIN — Changes in water service shutoffs for customers behind on bill payments will take effect Jan. 1 in Iron Mountain. The city council Monday approved the amended policy, which City Manager Jordan Stanchina says should eliminate most shutoffs while also giving customers facing service termination ample opportunity to pay. Holy Name wins parade float contest

ESCANABA — Parade organizers said they ended up more than 80 entries in this year’s Escanaba Christmas Parade Friday. Holy Name Catholic School took first place and the $200 prize for the float with the theme “The World Needs a STABLE Influence.” Students from the school participated in the nativity scene and handed out candy. The Girls Scouts float took second place and the $150 prize. The Marine Corp League was awarded $100 for third place.
