IRON MOUNTAIN — Property tax rates in 2023 are the same as a year ago in Dickinson County municipalities, apart from slight reductions in the city of Kingsford and the Norway-Vulcan and North Dickinson County school districts. ESCANABA — A fundraising project that aims to overhaul the worn-out bleachers at the home of the Eskymos is underway. A donation envelope is included in today’s Daily Press for anyone who would like to contribute to the cause. Dickinson board renews contract with TRICO for cleaning work

IRON MOUNTAIN — TRICO Opportunities will continue to provide janitorial services for Dickinson County, but the cost — up 20% in 2024 — is under question. The county board voted 3-2 Monday to renew the contract for cleaning at the courthouse and correctional center in Iron Mountain, as well as Ford Airport in Kingsford. The 2024 rate for each site is $90 per day, generally five days a week, two hours per day at the airport and varied hours at the courthouse and correctional center. Spalding man gets prison for sexual assault

MENOMINEE — A Spalding man has been sentenced to prison for sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl, according to Menominee County Prosecutor Jeffrey T. Rogg. Dustin Randal Garvin-Thorbahn, 22, of Spalding was sentenced to 30 months to 15 years in prison after being convicted of criminal sexual conduct – third degree (person 13 through 15).
