Camp Batawagama has openings

MARQUETTE — The Iron County Youth Camp — fondly known as Camp Batawagama — still has a few openings for this summer’s camps.

It is located on the shores of Indian Lake in Iron County and since 1945 has been providing the youth of Iron County and neighboring counties with unforgettable summertime experiences.

The camp has a waterfront program, with campers receiving instruction from the Red Cross-certified water safety instructors. Campers are given instruction in row boats, canoes, kayaks, wind surfers, hobbie cat sailboats and paddle boards.

In addition to the waterfront program, Camp Batawagama specializes in outdoor camping experiences, like cooking over an open fire and setting up the campsite.

Email icyc@iron.org to request a registration form to be sent to you for this summer’s camp, which has openings most every week for boys and girls ages 10-16 starting June 19, with the final session starting July 24.
