Woman killed, man injured in Grover, Wis., accident

MARINETTE, Wis. — A woman was killed and a man seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash early Saturday morning in Grover, Wisconsin.

Marinette County (Wis.) Sheriff Jerry Suave reported the accident happened at 5:08 a.m. CT when a four-door passenger car driven by Kathy Ann Trepanier, 67, of Grover either was attempting to pull onto U.S. 41 northbound from the median or was trying to cross completely to Kasal Lane into the Eagle Express truck stop. The car entered the path of a northbound semi-truck pulling a dump truck loaded with scrap metal.

After impact, the truck, driven by Lowell R. Reeck, 64, of Pulaski, Wisconsin, entered the east ditch and overturned. The passenger car spun down the southbound lanes and Trepanier was ejected from her vehicle.

She was pronounced dead at the scene by the Marinette County Medical Examiner.

Reeck, the truck driver, was trapped inside the overturned wreckage. After lengthy extrication efforts, he was freed and taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The police report indicates Reeck was hospitalized but his current condition is unknown.

The crash remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office, the Wisconsin State Patrol and the Marinette County Medical Examiner.

Assisting at the scene were the Peshtigo (Wisconsin) Police, the Grover Porterfield Fire Department, the City of Peshtigo Fire Department, the Marinette Fire Department, the Aurora Bay Area Paramedics, the Marinette Emergency Rescue Squad, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and the Wisconsin State Patrol.
