LANSING — Michigan Veteran Homes has provided a wish list for each home highlighting much-needed items to support veteran members this holiday season.

The success of the homes would not be possible without the amazing charitable support they receive from community members and veteran advocates throughout the state, according to a press release.

Michigan Veteran Homes D.J. Jacobetti is seeking monetary donations to support the life enrichment fund which is used to improve the quality of life for members. Monetary donations can be made at https://bit.ly/2SeSPcm or checks can be written to MVHDJJ and mailed to 425 Fisher St., Marquette, MI 49855. Please indicate the fund designation “Life Enrichment” in the memo section of the check.

The home is also seeking in-kind donations such as new seasonal clothing items, personal care items, magazine subscriptions, DVD players and portable CD players. In-kind donations may be dropped off Monday-Friday from 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m. in the lobby at the main entrance. For more information, contact Volunteer Coordinator Sarah Johnson at johnsons93@michigan.gov or 906-226-3576 Ext: 2520396. Michigan Veteran Homes is the entity that provides day-to-day operational oversight of the state’s veteran homes on behalf of the Michigan Veterans Facility Authority and is a branch of the Michigan Department of Military and Veterans Affairs.

MVH strives to ensure that quality long-term care is provided to the veterans and their eligible family members that live within the homes. High quality care for this phase of life is central to the “member for life” concept that DMVA embraces.

The MVH operates the Michigan Veteran Homes at Grand Rapids, the Michigan Veteran Homes D.J. Jacobetti in Marquette and the new Michigan Veteran Homes at Chesterfield Township.
