MENOMINEE COUNTY — Police are searching fstill or a voluntary missing person out of Menominee County.

According to the Michigan State Police Gladstone Post, troopers were dispatched to Schlaud’s Adult Foster Care in Stephenson for a resident who walked away from the facility. An MSP K-9 unit was deployed for tracking. During the K-9 search, police determined that it appeared the subject had possibly been picked up.

The subject was identified as Robert Edward Cook, 52, of Iron River. He’s described as 6-foot-8, 200 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes. According to Cook’s mother, “he has done this multiple times in the past and tried hitchhiking back to her residence in Iron River, or back to Reno, Nevada where they previously resided,” a news release states.

Troopers said Tuesday there was nothing new to report on the case.

Cook was last seen wearing blue jeans with a black or gray colored T-shirt. He is not considered to be dangerous, but has been diagnosed with schizophrenia, police said.

If anyone has seen Cook or knows of his whereabouts, dial 911 or contact the Michigan State Police Gladstone Post at 906-428-4411.
