ESCANABA –The National Trappers Convention Selection Committee recently met at the National Convention in Spencer, Iowa, and selected the U.P. Trappers Association to host the 2023 Annual National Trappers Convention at the fairgrounds in Escanaba on July 28, 29 and 30.

“Once again the largest trapping event in the nation will be coming to Escanaba; filling area motels and cabins; and giving restaurants and other small businesses a needed boost,” organizers said in an announcement.

Attendees come from nearly every state in the nation and several foreign countries, with many planning to stay an extra week or more to enjoy all that the Upper Peninsula has to offer. This is a family friendly event with a special building and many events for children of all ages.

After already helping to organize two previous national conventions, convention coordinator Roy Dahlgren said it takes thousands of dollars and a hundred or more dedicated volunteers to make a convention of this size run smoothly. Anyone wishing to help at the event or wanting to be an event sponsor can call Roy at 906-399-1960.
