Accidental shooting injures child
IRON RIVER — The Iron River Police Department is investigating an accidental shooting involving a 4-year-old at an Iron River residence on Thursday.
Police said that at about 7 p.m. Thursday, an officer was dispatched to the residence, and upon arrival, it was discovered the child had found a gun left in the living room, and discharged the weapon.
The child was wounded, but was awake and alert. EMS personnel arrived and transported the child to Aspirus Hospital where he was later transferred by helicopter to Milwaukee Children’s Hospital. The child’s condition was listed as stable.
Michigan State Police and EMS personnel assisted the Iron River Police Department at the scene.
