Seven arrested on drug charges

MUNISING — Seven people in Alger County were arrested by detectives from the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team on drug charges related to the distribution of prescription pills, according to UPSET.

The investigation was initiated in 2017 after “bulk amounts of various prescription pills” shipped through the United States Postal Service were seized by law enforcement, an UPSET press release states.

After a “lengthy investigation,” detectives identified several suspects in Alger County who had received illegal prescription pills in bulk after ordering them from foreign countries, police said.

The seven people were arrested on charges related to delivery of prescription pills and using a computer to commit a crime.

All seven suspects were lodged at the Alger County Jail and their names were being witheld, pending their arraignment.
