KINROSS — One man has died from injuries sustained in an alleged assault that took place at War Memorial Hospital in Chippewa County Thursday morning.

Officers from the Kinross Police Department were dispatched around 12:10 a.m. Thursday to respond to a report of an unresponsive male at War Memorial Hospital’s behavioral unit.

Kinross Police Chief Joe Micolo said there is evidence to believe the man died due to injuries sustained from the assault. A suspect, who was sharing a room with the deceased man in the hospital at the time, has been taken into custody.

More information was expected to be released from the Chippewa County Prosecsuting Attorney’s Office today.
