ST. IGNACE — A female has died after a two-vehicle crash Thursday on U.S. 2, just west of St. Ignace.

Troopers from the Michigan State Police St. Ignace Post responded to the crash, which involved a westbound pickup truck and an eastbound minivan.

The driver of the minivan crossed the centerline on snow-covered, icy roads and was struck by the westbound pickup truck, according to a press release issued by the state police.

The driver of the minivan was taken to Straits Area Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries and passed away. The driver and passenger of the westbound pickup truck were also taken to the hospital where they were treated for minor injuries, the release states.

A small portion of U.S. 2 was temporarily closed while officials investigated the scene, according to the release. Weather conditions were a contributing factor and alcohol is not believed to be involved. The crash is still under investigation.

Names of those involved are being withheld pending notification of the family members of the deceased.
