WMCH offering health grants

ISHPEMING — The Western Marquette County Health Foundation’s next grant cycle deadline is April 1 and community members are encouraged to apply for a grant with the foundation this spring.

The foundation provides funding for health and wellness solutions for communities in western Marquette County. This includes, but is not limited to: education for chronic diseases, such as diabetes, asthma, arthritis, cancer and heart disease; mental health and social and emotional support services; prenatal health; health and wellness; obesity; and un- or under-insured individuals, primarily children.

The foundation will prioritize funding based on programs that serves a specific geographic area. The grant is required to affect at least one of the following: the cities of Ishpeming or Negaunee and/or the nine townships (Ishpeming, Negaunee, Ely, Republic, Michigamme, Tilden, Champion, Humboldt, Richmond). Funding can be provided to applicants who seek to enhance health and wellness in the region. However, the foundation will review grants for programs that benefit the population of Marquette County and the Upper Peninsula.
