INGALLS – A driver and a passenger were injured when a train crashed into their vehicle Thursday morning in Menominee County.
Troopers from Michigan State Police Gladstone Post were dispatched to County Road 348 in Ingalls at about 9:35 a.m. Thursday. There, a 2011 Ford station wagon driven by Cedar River resident Adolf Jerger, 74, had been struck by a southbound Canadian National train.
Menominee resident Carol Truitt, 64, had been in the car when the crash occurred. She was taken to Bay Area Medical Center by Mid-County Rescue Squad for non-life threatening injuries. Jerger chose to seek his own treatment for minor injuries, and no members of the train’s personnel were injured in the incident.
Police issued Jerger a reckless driving citation as a result of the crash. Michigan State Police were assisted on the scene by Menominee County Sheriff Department, Mid-County Rescue Squad and Extrication, Mellen Township Fire Department, and Canadian National Railroad personnel.
