Man, 46, dies in snowmobile accident Saturday in Wisconsin

MARINETTE, Wis. — A man died in a snowmobile accident late Saturday in Wagner, Wisconsin, according to the Marinette County Sheriff’s Office in Wisconsin.

Sheriff Jerry Sauve reported that just before midnight, Marinette County Dispatch received a call from a snowmobiler who had come across another snowmobile that had gone off the trail on a curve and hit a tree.

A lifeless male victim was discovered at the scene at trail 5-1 west of State Highway 180 in Wagner, Wisconsin.

Sheriff’s officers, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources wardens, Wausaukee Rescue in Wisconsin and the Wagner Fire Department responded to the scene.

The Marinette County assistant medical examiner later came to the scene and pronounced the lone male victim dead of head and internal injuries from the crash.

The victim was identified as Tony F. Camps, 46, of Porterfield, Wisconsin. Speed and alcohol appeared to be factors in the crash, which remains under investigation by the sheriff’s office, Wisconsin DNR and the Marinette County medical examiner.
