St. Johns woman sentenced for tax fraud, embezzlement
By Journal Staff LANSING — Amanda Root of downstate St. Johns on Wednesday in Ingham County Circuit Court was sentenced to 42 months in prison on one count of embezzlement of $100,000 or more and two counts of filing false tax returns, announced Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel. Additionally, her sentence includes restitution in the amount of $459,645.70 paid to the victim, the victim s insurance companies, and the Michigan Department of Treasury.
